PORPHYRY is an eruptive rock, considered as a sort of unfinished granite, which can be very hard, especially if it contains a lot of quartz.

Its colour ranges from pinkish brown to purple.
Porphyry is often used for public sites (squares, footways, etc...) in the same way as granite.
